Spiritual Tradition
The Gelugpa is one of the major schools of Tibetan Buddhism, founded in the 15th century by Je Tsongkhapa.
It emphasizes Buddhist philosophy, disciplined monastic practice, meditation and the study of sacred texts.
The tradition became especially influential through the Dalai Lamas and remains an important part of Tibetan culture.
